UNESCO Collective Healing Initiative aims at healing and addressing the wounds and psycho-social, economic and political consequences of historical mass atrocities, such as the transatlantic slavery, colonialism, genocide and displacement of indigenous people, and other brutalities. The hope is to create pathways towards personal, cultural, relational and institutional transformation, and enable human well-being in harmony with the flourishing of other beings and the ecological integrity of our planet.

This Initiative is a partnership between the UNESCO, the Guerrand-Hermès Foundation, and the Global Humanity for Peace Institute. Working with communities in 16 countries across four continents, the Initiative facilitates spaces for intergenerational remembering, listening, dialogue, and collective healing circles (CHCs).

Through this Initiative, a Global Healing Alliance has been created . It is a community of CHC practitioners who come together for professional development, dialogue and mutual learning.

By convening UNESCO Webinar series and international symposia, and by participating in similar events, this Initiative has been able to develop a number of significant publications which have helped deepen our knowledge and insights into the nature of wounding and healing, as well as identify meaningful pathways for enhancing well-being for all.
