“Some of the things that are coming up about spiritual harm… – you’re not always able to immediately name them, but they are emerging, one by one, and as old as I am, I am hearing things I’ve never heard before.”

“The first day we had the intergenerational dialogue. And believe me, that was the best one-on-one talking I’ve ever done in my life.”

“I’m going to carry everything you’ve said with me for the rest of my life. You are an incredible woman.”

In this section of the website may be found a selection of videos and direct quotations from participants in the Collective Healing Initiative who have experienced Intergenerational Dialogue and Inquiry and Collective Healing Circle processes in their communities.

These highly personal narratives capture the spirit and voice of some of the participants and reflect the context-specificity and complexities of collective healing. Due to the sensitive nature of the comments, some parts of narratives have been redacted.

We have ordered narratives according to site rather than thematically. The reader may wish to select narratives at random or to read through testimonies from a single site. The narratives have been provided in full wherever possible to honour the perspectives generously shared by participants.

“Intergenerational dialogue was very, very necessary. I got to find out that a lot of our elders in the society have a lot of stories to tell, but because they’re not really asked, they don’t share. That was a very huge element in the project that I really appreciated.”

“One strong thing I found was love. There was love, like undiluted love.”
